SPECIAL INFORMATION

Next Gen 2004, a demonstration home sponsored by the Partnership for Advancing Technology in Housing (PATH) invited visitors to consider how environmental concerns and advanced technologies are changing homebuyers' expectations. This home demonstrates what can be achieved when a whole-house approach to building is coupled with high standards for building quality and comfort, and a commitment to affordability. In addition to the wide range of advanced technologies it demonstrates, the home will be for many a first introduction to modular building, or "stick building in a factory." NextGen is a modular house, partially constructed in sections and completed on site. Its lessons are applicable to any builder interested in improving quality through careful planning and design. More details can be learned about practices and technologies used in this home from the PATH website http://www.pathnet.org/sp.asp?id=9580

The NextGen home, produced by iShow, was on display in the parking lot of the Las Vegas Convention Center during the 2004 International Consumer Electronics Show and the 2004 International Builders' Show in January. It has since been donated to a local charity, Opportunity Village, which sold it to a private individual who is in the process of permanently siting the home within Las Vegas.
