SPECIAL INFORMATION

The design of this home took a wide range of issues into account beyond providing shelter. The site was assessed for the potential to salvage and reuse existing features and for the desire to minimize impacts through construction and occupancy of the home. The products and materials were assessed for their sustainability, efficiency and qualities of healthful living. The home became the first grid-tied Photovoltaic system for Northeast Mississippi Power Association. The homeowners received significant federal tax credits for energy efficiency features. It has also become a model for use of recycled shipping containers in energy efficient and healthy indoor home design.
